Jakob Sutor's 1612 "New Künstliches Fechtbuch" (New Illustrated Fencing Manual) was one publication of many on the subject being printed at the time in Europe, this one focussing primarly on fighting with the long sword, the dusack, the rapier, the staff, and the halberd. This manual has several collections of woodcut illustrations for each weapon and fighting type, demonstrating proper stances and techniques, as well as illustrating the different parts of the weapons and the different zones of the body to strike.  The audience was both young aristocratic men who would be expected to duel with others of their station, as well as any who wished to join the military and needed to be well-trained in both offensive and defensive maneuvers with a variety of standard-issue weaponry.

My name is S.E. Brunson, and it is my pleasure to bring you my collection of fiction works. I write for myself, and what that means is I envision myself and people like me as my prospective audience - inquisitive, well-read, often short on time, and bored of common tropes in science fiction, horror, and fantasy.  My protagonists are an inclusive mix of genders, backgrounds, and outlooks. Some of them are grim and jaded while others are pathologically cheerful. Some have mental illnesses, physical disabilities, or other unique traits that make them who they are. These stories are meant for everyone, and the writing reflects that. We are all people, our desire to survive and thrive in a frightening and strange world a unifying thing.

It is also my pleasure to bring you my collection of nonfiction works. Thanks to recent efforts of several libraries worldwide to scan in antique and ancient prints and manuscripts, there is now a huge amount of material available to the modern reader, if only someone would go in and transcribe it (and translate it if necessary) and publish into a more approachable form. The information in these obscure books is so interesting and worthy of preservation that I enjoy making them accessible to a modern audience with as much academic transparency as possible.
